I’m grateful for the opportunity to encourage and assist musicians as they focus on their niche and grow an amazing business that allows them to be creative, have time with family and friends and let go of feeling overworked or underpaid. The camaraderie and community I enjoy with musicians around the world enriches my life.
I live in Keswick, Ontario with my husband Andrew and daughters Lily and Ariya. I have a piano studio in my home where I teach lessons and offer business mentorship to musicians.
I have studied music for more than twenty five years and continue to work on my performance and teaching skills. I completed a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance at the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Music degree in piano accompanying and theory pedagogy at the University of Missouri, and an ARCT degree in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
While studying at the University of Missouri I was blessed to receive several awards: the MTNA STAR award for excellence in teaching, the Community Music Program Teacher of the Year award, and the Ella Ferguson Turner Piano Memorial Scholarship. I was also confirmed as member of the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honors Society. I am so grateful for the opportunities to improve my skills and share music with others and humbled to join Pi Kappa Lambda with my colleagues.
As a professor of piano and theory at the University of Missouri I taught group piano lessons, private piano lessons, aural skills classes, and theory. I’ve enjoyed adjudicating piano performances through the Mid-Missouri Area Music Teachers Association and the National Federation of Music Teachers organization. While teaching in Missouri one of my students earned the highest grade in the state on his RCM exam and another was accepted to a university music program with a performance based scholarship.
I am so grateful for all of the musical activities I've participated in and most of all the relationships I've developed throughout the years of being a musician. I'm looking forward to all the people I have yet to meet and connect with.
